Hello,
This blog is here to try to help musicians of different backgrounds and languages learn to communicate with each other more easily.
By finding out "what is the same, but called by another name", it may be easier to look at different musics as the same as yours, with a few extras :)
On the right are basic ideas, such as Solfege, modes, etc. called by their English/European names. The hope is that we can add posts to each category that give us translations into other languages (ie. The use of "Do" in English Solfege, corresponds to "Sa" in an Indian musical context -- so the posts below it can give us translations into other cultures' versions of the same thing).
If you find information that seems in-accurate, please post the correction, and it wil be updated as soon as possible. Also, please add ideas for additional categories to the right.
